Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
I am just sitting here listening to the birds outside, thinking about how tired I am. I’m not even physically tired, I am emotionally tired, actually exhausted. I cry, I get mad, I get scared, I lose hope, I find hope and then I’m normal, cracking jokes. Repeat. It drains you.
However, as I recognize all these different feelings I also recognize total Peace from within me. This is one great example of what it’s like to be a born again Christian. You have access to all that is God’s, it’s your inheritance, and Peace is one of His many wonderful attributes (Galatians 5: 22-26).
We are in, what looks like, a hopeless situation. Our leaders are out of control. I am fearful of what is coming next and yet I have Peace inside of me? It blows my mind…
The way I see it, we all produce “fruit” which shows our character. You either produce God’s fruit or the enemies. What does your character tell you about yourself?
The character traits of the enemy and God are found in Galatians 5: 19-23. The enemies character includes sexual immorality, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, envy, and drunkenness, just to name a few.
God’s character includes love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
What traits do we see most dominantly in our world? In our government? In ourselves? What Spirit seems to be having the most influence?
We will never be perfect. I myself sin daily. But the difference between my past and present is that I also recognize it daily and work toward changing it in order to become a better person and experience better things.
If you want to experience this peace, all you have to do is go to Him with your whole heart, be vulnerable and He will comfort you. No matter what you have done in life, He wants to love you too. He didn’t send His son to the cross so that you can continue to suffer, He already did that in your place. Don’t let His sacrifice be in vain.
