Baptism Doesn’t Save You!

Acts 8: 36 Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, “See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?” 37 [a]Then Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, you may.” And he answered and said, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”

So I was scrollin through Tik Tok and came across one where this man was saying that if your Bible was missing certain verses then you need a new Bible. One of those verses was Acts 8:37.

So I grab my side by side KJV and NIV. Now, I prefer and love reading the NIV version, it’s what I started on and never stopped. However, I did a study on versions and found that the later the edition, the greater chance it could have information missing. I also learned that the Gideon was the original. So I ended up getting a side by side KJV and NIV. This way I can cross reference.

So, I start with NIV and verse 37 was missing. However, the KJV had it, as you can see above. I was so shocked and thought about all the information that we could be missing due to the version we are reading.

Baptism is a huge thing to be omitting, especially baptism after you can think for yourself.

I was raised Catholic and I know we had babies baptized so they could be saved, brought into the family of God. I didn’t realize until after I was saved in my 30’s that this was not accurate and does not get you into Heaven, John 3 gets you into Heaven.

I remember that fairly soon into my walk with God, I started to feel weight about getting baptized. Now, I was baptized as a baby but I just knew that I was supposed to do it again. I knew this was because I made the decision to have a relationship with God myself and was therefore, at that point saved. So the next step was to confess my belief to others and participate in the symbolization of the death and resurrection of my life through Jesus’ sacrifice and resurrection from the grave, through baptism.

A baby can’t make this decision, therefore baptizing a baby is pointless because it doesn’t save them, it doesn’t make the Spirit enter their bodies. They have to decide to have a relationship on their own like the verse says above. “If you believe with all your heart, you may”.

There are people walking around believing they are going to Heaven because they were baptized and made their sacraments. These are rituals and motions, not relationship, big difference.

So please, make sure you are reading the correct version or at least have multiple ones to reference. It could be a matter of life or death.
