For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us…but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist” (1 John 2:18,19; 4:3, emphasis added).

Strongholds are simply strong. Jealousy, hatred, pride, depression, anxiety, sexual immorality, and addiction are examples of strongholds, they are examples of the demonic spirits at work in us.
I have started researching this topic again because of my own strongholds that keep coming back into my life.
I wonder will I ever be free? Is there Hope for me?
I understand strongholds to be demonic spirits at work in all of us, the common ways of the world. The longer and closer we are with these spirits the stronger they become in our lives, in the end destroying us.
We have all been hurt and told either in words or actions that we are worthless. Now the difference between one person who believes strongly that they are worthless (and are stuck) and another who has just had the thought at times (but was able to push past it), is that the first one was probably told over and over their whole lives by even those closest to them, that they were worthless. They have actually believed it for so long, that it is now a stronghold.
I believe we all have some form of strongholds in our lives, but God has to open your eyes to seeing it.
I believe God is the way and is the one who breaks us free from these, but I also believe that there is a system in place that makes things easier and also blesses all parties involved.
The first step is seeing your strongholds through God’s eyes and acknowledge them. Next, have a support system that knows what you would need from them and will commit to walking this with you. Have prayer chains set up. Then think about why you have those strongholds in the first place, when did they begin and why? Research your hold and find out how the mind works when subjected to certain things in life. Then take those facts and bring them into Scripture so that you can reverse what you thought and have your mind transformed to believe the truth. Breaking those chains and becoming a new creation.
The stronger the hold the more important it is to have people who understand this process so when you are weak and hear nothing but lies, they can ask you questions and walk you through the truth, helping you get back on track.
It is one thing to just speak Scripture to someone, and it is another to understand WHAT needs to be spoken.
Without studying it and understanding it, how can you break it or help someone?
We don’t understand things until we study it, we don’t learn without diving in.
I believe this is the part where the Church has frustrated me most. Everyone will pray for you, which is great and necessary. They will even throw you a handout at times to get over a hump. But when it comes to climbing into your pit with you, trying to understand why you are there and gaining knowledge of how to carry you out, it is lacking.
I am determined though, to get others to understand this and to create a system that can make this easier on future generations and build up the Church and equip them with the tools to help and understand.
I sacrifice myself as the guinea pig, for people to learn and understand. I want to be the voice for the weak and get strong enough to help multitudes of people to know there are people who will jump into that pit with them. I want to gather others who think like this, who want to truly experience Jesus and go where He goes and has gone.
I have been battling way to long on my own, this is war and do we send one man to fight the war alone? No, we send many men to fight one battle.
Time to find some soldiers to help me fight this war.
