Have you ever felt or saw yourself as beautiful one day, when you feel confident because you feel thin enough and your hair and makeup look good but then the next day you feel and see yourself as fat and ugly with no confidence to go out into the world?
This is why!!!!!!!!
Genesis 2:25 The man and his wife were both naked, and they felt no shame.
God points out that Adam and Eve were naked and felt no shame, they were following the path God created for them and they trusted God completely.
Genesis 3:7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves.
At this point Adam and Eve had sinned, they went against God and were no longer following Him, they were headed down another path. Shame would now be put upon them. Shame is a painful emotion of guilt or shortcoming. They now felt guilty and saw they fell short due to going against God’s will and their path. They now felt the need to wear clothing, covering the bodies that they were once secure with and to also try and cover their shame. This shows that we view ourselves through our shame.
Genesis 3:10 He answered, “I heard you in the garden and I was afraid because I was naked;so I hid.”
Adam and Eve’s initial reaction to their guilt was to hide from God.
God created shame to help us know that we are not in line with Him or our path, we are headed toward dangerous territory. How many times do we just try and hide from Him instead of confronting the choices we have made?
Think about how many women cake on the makeup, jewelry, and expensive clothes. Why do they put so much time into this and still feel short? How many men focus on their bodies needing a six pack or feeling the need to be ripped?
This is why and who we get that from!!!!!!
Ezekiel 28:17 Your heart became proud on account of your beauty, and you corrupted your wisdom because of your splendor. So I threw you to the earth; I made a spectacle of you before kings.
God is speaking about Satan throughout Ezekiel 28. Satan was God’s guardian, you couldn’t get closer to God. Then Satan began to think he was wiser than God and started to rebel against God and the path God created for him, he sinned and God distanced from him, then he continued sinning, becoming violent because as shame builds up we become very angry and overwhelmed. So instead of being aware of how he was feeling and going through the process of having his shame lifted, Satan began to focus on his outer beauty to cover up the shame he felt, and he became prideful and then God completely cut off His relationship with Satan and threw him to the earth. God then says He made a spectacle of him.
How many of us try to hide who we really are and focus on our outer appearance to compensate for our shortcomings and insecurities that we hide inside?
How many people are being made a spectacle of? I think of the show Mob wives, they were all made up and tan on the outside, but horrible mean people in their actions, and many times violent toward one another. The world who follows Satan is also being made a spectacle of. A spectacle is an unpleasant center of attention.
So how can we fix this and see our real beauty?????
Ultimately, follow God’s plan and believe He knows what He is talking about.
1 Peter 3:3-4 Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.
Follow the path God created for you…..
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
To expel the shame, we must repent, admit our sin, ask forgiveness and turn away from the sin while then turning to God. Then we are refreshed and see ourselves through new eyes and not through the shame. Jesus took the shame of the world on His shoulders when He died on the cross, you just have to let Him have it.
Acts 3:19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.
I am proof that this is true. I used to never leave the house without my caked on makeup, my fine clothes, and body toned and tan. I didn’t have the confidence to face the world without this. Now since I have found the Lord and started to repent and follow my God created path, I see my inner beauty and hardly ever wear makeup and have done so many things that I couldn’t have even attempted in the past, even with my outer confidence. Now I no longer need my makeup, when I use it, it is to enhance the beauty I already know I have. Satan was beautiful on the outside. God already created us beautiful when He took the time to knit us in the womb, we just have to keep it up by taking care of ourselves.
If you rely on your outer appearance to bring you strength, what will you do when your outer self grows old and changes?
Proverbs 31:30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
“Have you ever seen someone who is not appealing to the eye, but as you got to know them, your view changed and they became attractive”?
That is because you saw their real beauty coming from within. A great example of this is a little girl named Adalia Rose, she has a disease that speeds up aging, these children usually die of strokes or heart attacks. To the world, she is not attractive, some have even called her an alien, but when you watch her speak, she comes alive and that beauty is spilling out from within. She is the most beautiful child I have ever seen.
