Did you find Him yet?

John 3:16  For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

If you pay attention to the Christmas movies being played on TV, there isn’t one movie that doesn’t have a couple falling in love.

This is the time of year that it hits men and women alike. We sit around wishing we had someone who loved us no matter what, unconditionally. Someone to cuddle up with on the couch, someone to go see lights with, someone to share the holidays with.

Christmas is the season for love.

Now if you think about it, Christmas is Jesus’ Birthday. He was born to save the world from the heartache it experiences, to save us from our destroyed hopes and dreams. Jesus didn’t come to die for God’s children only, He came for us all.

Jesus is unconditional love, He is our example. Why do we pull away from Him and pretend He is a myth, but celebrate and teach our children that a true myth, like Santa is real?

Maybe it is because we know in our heart’s that Jesus and His example of Love is perfect and we don’t want to believe that we aren’t, we don’t want the pressure of trying to measure up. Maybe your just scared to really be that happy.

So we try to orchestrate love on our own, on our own terms. Sure it is good for a bit, until being human sets in. Someone you once adored becomes someone else. You say “I don’t like this, I don’t like that, I don’t know if I can live with this”.

We move on to find the next perfect person.

We will never find that perfect person. So we will forever be searching, always passing by the first step. It’s like baking a cake, if you don’t mix the ingredients together before you put them in the pan, will it be a cake?

If you look for perfect love, without learning what Love is through the creator of Love, will you really ever find it?

Do you think it is coincidence that Christmas is the season where everyone focuses on falling in Love, and Jesus who is Love was born on Christmas?

Jesus died for us as sinners, because we will never be perfect. So don’t let your pride get in the way of learning from the greatest teacher that was ever born. Don’t keep searching for love while skipping that first critical step.

Don’t sit on your couch watching these movies, crying and wondering when you will find love. You can have it right now. You can feel Him in your heart, so deep that a song can bring you to tears because you can feel how much He does love you right now. You can wake up tomorrow with your heart leaping for Joy, knowing that you will be spending the day with the one man who loves you no matter what you do or who you are. That one man who will encourage you and make you feel like you can do anything, He will hold your hand while you walk through your fears and He will celebrate with you when you overcome.

Isn’t that what your looking for?
