Ephesians 2:1 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins,
1 Timothy 4:2 Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.
I saw that commercial about Shirley Temple last night and I thought about how old movies seem to have people who are actually happy, there was something different about people back then. They seemed to have so much more light coming from them in general.
People now seem dull and dark when I look at them, there is something missing.
The Scripture above came to my mind and it all clicked.
You see every sin takes us farther from God and dulls our light. Back then sin was not as prevalent as it is today. Movies weren’t about sex, drugs, and pain. They had fun doing innocent things.
Now I have to be careful in the movies I watch and pre-screen the best I can for my daughter since rated R means soft porn now.
It is scary though because the progression of sin in this world is making people hard and calloused. They no longer have a conscience (refer to scripture above), which means they are capable of doing anything without a problem and are out for themselves more and more.
I remember when I finally accepted God into my heart and really believed I needed Him, I felt dead, there was no emotion coming from me, I was a breathing, living, hopeless person. Once I was born again, people asked me what was different about me, I would say God. They were seeing the light emitting off of me, the light that was restored once my relationship with God was restored.
We are set up to die physically which everyone knows, but we are also set up to die Spiritually. The more we sin and don’t repent, the farther we get from the light and our souls start to die off, they become dark.
Light will go to Heaven and darkness will go to Hell.
