Ecclesiastes 12:7 and the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it.
I took my dog in the backyard this morning and I was admiring how the huge piles of leaves were gone because I had burned them the past two nights in my fire pit. I looked at the ashes that were laying on the ground and it amazed me.
I had so many leaves I thought I would never get through them all, yet they burned down to maybe a brown bags worth of space.
I remember when I was 13 my mom and I had to pick my Aunt up after she was cremated and they handed my mom this baggie of ashes. A full sized adult body took up the space of a baggie.
It made me think of how small and weak we actually are. It made me think of how much we need God, who is so strong and will never turn to ash. He made us and He takes us.
So many walk around thinking they are great and powerful people, but they to will turn into a baggie full of ashes. Your soul is the key, it will return to God and either stay with Him or be sent to Hell to suffer without Him for eternity.
So when your body is burned down to ash where will your soul go? Do you really believe that all there is to your life is building your empire here, just to die and leave it behind?
