Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding
I read this verse today and could see how true and important it is. My dog confirmed it to me this morning, well God did with my dog. I decided it was time for his bath, as soon as he heard bath he ran to his bed and tried to hide from me. I went over to him and gently picked him up as he was trembling and talked to him softly telling him how he was going to love it once it was done and there was nothing to be scard of, and I was with him.
This made me think of this verse. There are times God wants us to do things and we don’t understand why. We might try to hide from him and ignore him as we tremble because what he is asking seems to scary for us to face. But eventually he comes and gently picks us up and carries us to the next step as he tells us how we can do it and how we will love the results once it is done.
Just like my dog, he doesn’t understand why he needs a bath but now he is clean and sleeping comfortably. He resisted but trusted me enough not to fight me when the time came. Also he couldn’t have faced the tub alone but with me it was possible.
We might not like or understand right away why God wants us to do something but even if we are scard he will help us get in that tub (: as he gently cleanses our souls and makes our hearts pure. He doesn’t expect us to do it alone.
I didn’t want to get into Mary Kay, I was terrified of sales and had such a low self esteem that I was scard of being friends with women, because I thought I was so below them all. God knew what he was doing though. Over the past year he has carried me to each step and got me to where I am ready to go do my first party with about 12 woman. He worked through my fears, gave me confidence, and showed me my worth over this year. If I went on my own understanding that I couldn’t do it, I would have missed out on one of the best steps in my life.
I hope you stop fighting God today and just lean on him, let him lead you through the water and change your life. He knows exactly what he is doing.
