1 Corinthians 10:31 So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
Wow, today it just clicked as Matt told me a different view on glorifying God. I had read and sang about this verse many times. My view was bite my tongue and say “It’s for God” over and over til anger went away or I just stuffed it down etc. I also thought glorifying God had to include talking about Him.
Today I saw we are supposed to glorify Him in our hearts also. If I am walking around cleaning up after people with bitterness in my heart about it, I am not glorifying God in my home or my heart. Other’s might not know I am bitter or fighting mean thought’s about them but God knows, it’s not enough to keep your mouth shut. We have to have the right intentions in our hearts. We can do whatever we want as long as we glorify God while doing it.
Are you glorifying God in your job by doing the best you can? Are you glorifying God with the food that enters your mouth, making sure to take care of the body He gave you? Are you staying pure in your mind when someone cuts you off and then throws a hand gesture at you to top it off like the accident was almost your fault?
We all need help in this area and can ask God to help us glorify Him in all we do. Do you know how much less of a burden it is to do your work and deal with people in a glorifying pure way? We have to do it either way, so why not do it in a way where we actually feel good about ourselves.
Thank You God for the lesson you taught me today. Please help us to do the things we are called to do in this life without grumbling and with a pure heart. Take my burdens and give me yours.
